I LOVE THIS BOOK!!
“Her beauty was a weapon—one she kept honed—but it could also be a vulnerability.”
TaB is one of my favorite books in the ToG series, it was it that made me love the series in the first place. And it was also in it that I cried for the first time while reading a book, so, it’s understandable that I have a strong emotional attachment to it.
I still remember exactly the moment when I opened this book for the first time, and what an incredible moment! In the first line, I had already fallen in love with the main character that would come to be my comfort character.
A lot of people say that TaB isn’t necessary to understand the rest of the series and that it shouldn’t be read before the first book. I totally disagree. For me, TaB is extremely important to understand Celaena and the way she acts, her personality in a better way and a lot of her future actions make A LOT more sense if you have read TaB (some of these actions and feelings are in Throne of Glass (the first book) by the way).
Something that I just love in TaB is the fact that besides Celaena being an Assassin she always helps who needs and I think that’s amazing because it shows that she didn’t forget who she was before this life and also the fact that many of her worries and behaviors are pretty common for a normal 16-year-old girl.
Her relationship with Sam is something that isn’t that show up in the book, but I really wanted a little more of it because I just love their dynamics (and that’s one of the reasons why I play her in an RPG).
I guess that’s it, I don't have much to say about this book without giving spoilers besides the fact that I’m a big fan of Celaena, Sam, and some other characters that are shown in the book (and that I hate a certain red-haired character with all my soul).
“Celaena Sardothien, at your service.”
