Dead End

In the middle of the Holocaust of people and hearts, can LOVE survive at all?

My name’s Sarah Wainness, but this wasn’t always my name. It's just one more, among so many I've ever had. My childhood was happy and simple, like any child my age and my neighborhood in Karnobat, Bulgaria. We were a family of five siblings, including myself.
Dad was a very good, energetic and religious man, went to the synagogue while Mother worked at home, taking care of everything and all of us. After we received an inheritance from a deceased uncle who lived in Berlin, we moved there and, after arriving, I came upon a reality totally different from the one I knew.
My dreams blossomed into contact with the city. One of them, I had to keep it a secret: I wanted to be a dancer. I always took Mom's clothes, hidden, and whirled in the back yard, seeing everything around me change. That made me happy. But one day, my dreams collapsed and my life changed completely: the Nazis invaded our house, and I was taken to a place of prostitution.
My name is Sarah Wainness, and I already lived in the Dead End.
