Às vezes parece mais fácil se esconder. Reforçar as muralhas. E é preciso abandonar tudo e correr. Largando espadas e escudos pelo caminho. Tirando a armadura.
Sometimes it seems easier to hide. Reinforce the walls. And suddenly, in a trick of fate, this protection becomes a prison. Refuge no longer comforts. Weapons used to defend, now hurt. And it is necessary to abandon everything and run. Dropping swords and shields along the way. Taking off the armor. And when I see it, I've let go of too much; my skin and flesh, I find myself completely vulnerable. And still, I stay here, terrified, hoping you can see me. I stay here until you see my bones.
In her new poetry collection, E. Elizabeth explores the vulnerabilities we find as we protect and expose ourselves to the world, how hard can be to feel too much, and how harder it is to pretend that we feel nothing at all.
