Guys, I don't think anyone could understand how RELIEVED I am that I finally finished this book!
You know, in the beginning I really thought I would enjoy the story and that even though the beginning was being a little slow, it would get better as the story progressed, but that's not what happened. Pug's whole story of becoming an apprentice to the mage basically disappeared completely and I feel like he was there for nothing. I really liked Tomas' relationship with Pug, but still, I was expecting more.
I felt that this book was written by a bunch of people who decided to write a story but didn't really pinpoint what it was going to be about. You just don't know what they have in this world, or what is common to them and what is not...everything is too convenient for the story.
I feel that the chapters are extremely long and this really affected my reading, because I just wanted to get it over with. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters and for most of the book I was just angry and the other part I just didn't understand what was going on. In one chapter the characters are children and in the next it's been 3 years of war with Pug missing, but nobody knows what happened, not even us readers, because WE ARE NOT TOLD.
Not to mention that at least 30% of the book is told through the point of view of other characters that honestly didn't add anything to the story and only wasted my time. This whole book was a big waste of time and mental sanity.
